My name is Steffi and I am so excited you're here with me! Because something led you here, some unspoken internet force has brought your style-loving self to my style-loving blog.
Welcome to Moda Misfit, where style is a tool for self-discovery and empowerment. Let’s tap into the art of living pretty, because that’s pretty powerful!
I’m here to inspire you to embrace who you are and express your creative self through your interior decor. I'll help you get in touch with your personal style and access a sense of confidence through the what you surround yourself with at home.
Style is an awesome tool and I want to help you wield it to its fullest!
You see, there is power in your personal style. The all-too-common tendency to dismiss style as a frivolous, superficial, materialistic endeavor has left this potent tool of communication and self-expression untapped for so many of us.
And I want to serve as your champion as you join me in embracing and utilizing your personal style as a way to say what you want to say about yourself without even speaking, whether it be a peaceful statement or a full-on battle cry.
Moda Misfit is a place for interior style ideas, tips, and inspiration. Where you can explore, for example:
A library of free interior style downloads to help get you poised and ready to create you dream space
And since interior style and fashion are very connected to one another, you’ll also see the occasional fashion post. I love talking about anything from how to reject the stupid things you’ve been told about your style, to how fashion can be an empowering tool for introverts
This is a blog where pretty meets powerful. Where style inspires, motivates, and heals. Yes - even heals!
And as an introvert who has dealt with depression at several points in my life, my style has always allowed me to communicate with the people around me when words and my own brain would fail me.
My styled-to-the-brim apartments over the years in NYC, LA, and now Seattle could be wordless novels that allowed all visitors to discover the various stories of me.
In the excessively introverted, depression-riddled phases of my life, I may not have been saying much - but my interior decor was screaming with blissful and reckless abandon, "This is me!"
And I want to help you realize and explore the powerful potential interior styling holds for you. You are fully capable of putting together magazine-worthy home decor in a space that welcomes you home in style.
I want to turn you into self-sufficient style warrior who is empowered to decorate with what makes you feel inspired and cozy at home. You can do this!
And to those of you whose knee-jerk reaction to this is to think those self-defeating thoughts of “I don’t have a sense of style” or “she must be talking to the girls who are actually good at this, who have an ‘eye for it’”, here’s what I have to say to you:
You DO have a sense of style! Whoever you are, whatever your background or financial limitations are, WE ALL have a sense of style. Because we all have things we're interested in, things we love, and things we're passionate about. These things may seem to have nothing to do with personal style, but I’m here to tell you that they have everything to do with it. The secret to your style lies in allowing the things you love to inform your style choices.
We all feel like misfits at various points in our lives - even at various points in each day. Sometimes things just don't fit perfectly together, and that's okay.
The act of tapping into your misfit quirks is what will allow you to make your home beautiful, put together a cool outfit, and experience the things you authentically love to their fullest.
Through the Moda Misfit lens, style is where all the misfits fit.
We're all Moda Misfits here!

I'm originally from Seattle and moved to New York at age 18 to attend NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.

My favorite show is Battlestar Galactica (the Ronald D. Moore reboot). It's a masterpiece.
I'm a TV junkie. I watch an insane amount of TV.
