Studio Apartment Tour: My New 500 Sq Ft Studio + Layout Ideas + Moody Dark Decor Vision!
I’m moving into a studio apartment!!!
And if you’re wondering why on earth I would move out of my 700 sq ft 1-bedroom apartment and downsize into a 500 sq ft studio, I’ll explain. Simply put, I've missed living in a studio ever since I moved out of my first one. That space was really something special.
So, this is like a return to my natural habitat. 🥰
In this video, I’m giving you an empty studio apartment tour of my new space! I’ll show you why I fell in love with it, share my moody dark decor design vision, and share the studio apartment layout ideas I’m considering to make sure this small space flows beautifully.
So if you live in a studio or small apartment of any kind, stick with me over the coming months as I transform this new studio apartment of mine into a dark, cozy retreat!
Studio Apartment Layout Ideas
Layout Option 1
My first thought was to configure this studio pretty much exactly like my last one. I loved that layout. It flowed so nicely, and I would like to replicate it potentially in here.
Layout Option 2
This option might feel like less of a tight fit than the first option, at least when it comes to the “living room” area of the studio. It might allow more room for a coffee table and feel less squished up, if that makes sense.
But the challenge with this configuration is it might not flow as well as the first, at least for how my brain operates. It might feel more disjointed and not as pleasing to the eye. I may have to wait until I get the furniture in the space and play around a bit!
Dark Moody Decor Vision
I want to turn this studio into dark, moody retreat. And to do that, I’m going to paint the walls and ceiling of the main area a dark color.
I love the idea of having a dark, dramatic lair to exist in. 🖤😌🖤
To give you an idea of what I have in my head, here’s the vibe I’m going for:
And before you come at me and say that a small space should not be dark, well… if you keep up with my YouTube videos, you know my opinion on this matter. 😉
Darkness does not make a room look small. That’s a myth! Other things make a dark room look small, like bad lighting or cluttered styling.
I think that a dark, moody space feels cozy and inviting, like… a dark mistress's embrace. That's how I want my apartment to feel—like a dark mistress's embrace, lol.
So that’s my new studio apartment!
